A Vicksburg inspection request is not an inspection result. The City’s inspection instructions say the inspector marks pass or fail on the card supplied when the permit is issued. If a project is described as complete but that record is missing, start with the missing result—not another general promise that the permit was handled.

The City’s plan-review page makes approved plans and paid fees conditions for receiving a building permit. Neither is a substitute for the later inspection record.
Match the request to the right stage
Vicksburg lists scope-dependent site/setback, rough plumbing, sewer, foundation, framing, fireplace, electrical final, gas-test and final inspections. It separately requires rough-in and final inspections for electrical, mechanical and plumbing work. That is not a fixed nine-visit schedule for every project. City inspection instructions
To request a visit, supply the inspection type, permit number, preferred date/time, location and contractor name. The City says to allow at least 24 hours; it does not promise the requested appointment.
Ask the inspector which stage must be accepted before covering affected work. A request receipt alone does not answer that question.
When one result is missing
Use this short closeout check with the person coordinating the permit:
- Match the address, permit number and scope on each result.
- Find any failed result without a later resolution.
- Check that required trade finals have not been mistaken for the whole project’s final clearance.
- Identify changed work that is not clearly covered by the approved plans or permit.
- Ask the City what record establishes completion and whether a separate certificate or authorization applies.
Do not fill a blank with “passed” because the contractor has finished working. Keep warranties, product registrations and private payment arrangements separately; they do not replace the City’s result.

The department contact is 601-634-4528 or inspection@vicksburg.org. Its linked pages disagree about the office address: the inspection instructions say 805 South Street, while plan review says 819 South Street. Confirm the destination by phone before going.
