Indian Rocks Beach’s scheduled special pickup is not the same as its free citywide cleanup. Call City Hall to arrange a special pickup before setting out bulky household items. Construction debris, heavy repair parts and contractor-generated material need a different plan. April 27 program notice
Start with what made the pile

The standing solid-waste page establishes the construction, vegetation and hazardous-material boundaries. The special-pickup notice supplies the household-item examples and heavy-item exclusions. Bagging demolished material does not turn it into eligible furniture or ordinary household waste.
Scheduling and charges are separate questions
The April notice says special pickups resumed May 4, 2026 and operate as needed rather than on fixed special-pickup days. It directs residents to call City Hall. The standing service page lists Public Works at 727-595-6889 for questions about classification and removal.
Describe the items, quantity, approximate size and whether a contractor produced them. Ask where and when to place them and whether a charge applies. The notice allows the City Manager to authorize unusually large quantities for a fee based on the load and City cost, with a $50 minimum. That is not a quoted price for every pickup, nor proof that ordinary scheduled pickup is the free citywide program.
The notice’s statement about a future August cleanup was written in April. It is not evidence of today’s cleanup date or that an August event actually occurred. Check the current City announcement before relying on a citywide event.
Ordinary yard waste has different preparation rules
For ordinary resident yard trimmings, the standing page specifies a maximum one-yard pile, pieces cut to three feet, limbs no more than four inches in diameter, and a neatly stacked pile no more than three feet high and three feet long. It separately asks for placement within two feet of the curb and at least five feet from obstructions. Ask Public Works when the alley configuration or pile size is uncertain; these are the City’s published limits, not an LSL volume calculation.
Bag type also changes the collection day: the City’s FAQ sends paper/compostable bags with Wednesday yard waste, but plastic-bagged loose vegetation with scheduled garbage collection because it is not recyclable in that form. Do not import another municipality’s bag instructions into Indian Rocks Beach.
What to keep after requesting service
Save the scheduled date, item description and any charge or placement instructions. If material remains, use that specific request when contacting the City rather than assuming all items in a mixed pile were approved together. Never leave rejected material on another property or at a facility without acceptance.
