Vicksburg’s codified residential garbage rates are $38.11 per month for the first cart and $31.61 for one additional cart. Those amounts appear in §11-101 of the code’s August 14, 2026 edition. The City’s separate rate webpage still lists $35 and $27.50. Use the discrepancy to check your account with Water and Gas rather than assuming the cheaper webpage amounts control. LSL performed these calculations from the code’s monthly amounts. They are annualized scenarios, not the amount every household owes for calendar 2026. A midyear change, partial-year service or account-specific charge requires the actual billing dates and applicable rate history.
The residential provisions cover single-family generators and households in buildings with three or fewer apartments; the code caps a residential account at two carts. What changed in this calculation
The older webpage inputs produce $420 for twelve months with the first cart and $750 with the additional cart; their additional-cart increment is $330. Those were the original article’s arithmetic, but the source inputs are not the amounts now printed in the code. Rate webpage
The current-code scenarios are $37.32 higher for the first-cart year and $86.64 higher for the two-cart year. These differences compare two published schedules; they are not measured increases on a particular customer’s bill and do not establish a rate-change effective date.
Before ordering another cart or disputing a charge
The Important Waste Management Collection Notice says one cart per residence per collection, while the code and rate webpage describe an additional residential cart. Do not interpret the two-cart calculation as confirmation that another cart is already authorized for your address.
Call Water and Gas at 601-636-3414, using the office’s own contact page, and ask:
- Which rate and effective billing period apply to this account?
- Is an additional cart available and authorized here?
- Does the statement’s charge correspond to the number of authorized carts?

Calculation and source limits
LSL compared the code, rate webpage, collection notice and office contact on September 13, 2026. The code was displayed as current through Ordinance 2026-05, enacted July 10, 2026; no invoice or later uncodified administrative order was obtained. Calculations use the printed monthly charges without forecasting twelve months of future rate stability. No household survey or market-wide price average is implied.
