Eustis’ tree form separates the lot’s minimum tree count from the number of replacement trees required. They are not the same blank. An inventory must show trees being retained as well as those proposed for removal. Tree application
Read the lot table without inventing its endpoints
The following reproduces the bands printed in the form’s office-use section:
| Lot area, square feet | Minimum number of trees shown |
|---|---|
| Less than 6,000 | 2 |
| 6,000–10,000 | 3 |
| 10,000–16,000 | 4 |
| 16,000–20,000 | 5 |
| Over 20,000 | 6 |
The printed ranges overlap at exactly 10,000 and 16,000 square feet. LSL has not silently assigned those endpoints to one row. Ask staff to identify the applicable band if the property’s area falls on either boundary.
To see why retained trees matter, consider an LSL arithmetic illustration, not a permit decision: a 12,000-square-foot lot falls within the printed four-tree row. If three retained trees qualify toward that minimum, the numerical shortfall is 4 − 3 = 1, not four new trees. Whether the retained trees qualify and whether any replacement requirement applies still need the appropriate review.
Diameter is not the tape’s distance around the trunk
The form asks for DBH—diameter measured at 54 inches above grade at the tree’s base—and records tree locations and species. A circumference reading from an ordinary tape must not be entered as diameter. Inventory definition
For preparation, label each tree on a drawing and use that label in the inventory. Mark retained and proposed-removal trees differently. If a trunk is forked or otherwise difficult to measure, ask for measurement guidance rather than improvising a value that looks precise.
Confirm the current filing route
The City’s Building Department page links a two-page tree application and directs completed tree applications to Code Enforcement. It also links its current permit portal. For routing help, contact Building at 352-483-5462 or building@eustis.org. Department instructions and current links
The previous service-page URL now redirects to GovWell. LSL could not verify that form’s contents in this review; do not treat this article as a walkthrough of its live screens. Use the City’s current links and ask which documents belong with the submission. We checked the linked PDF itself rather than assuming the older four-page attachment remained the filing interface.
A minimum-count table does not settle an exemption
Florida section 163.045 can prohibit local replanting requirements for qualifying residential removal supported by the required professional risk documentation. The lot table alone does not determine that applicability. Current state provision
LSL checked the department page, both native pages of its linked application, the older attachment and the statute on September 20, 2026. The table and arithmetic clarify the distinction between a site minimum and replacement count; they do not classify a tree, approve removal or impose planting on a particular property.
