For a Vicksburg-area new-vehicle warranty dispute, keep the repair history in a form that another person can reconstruct: what was reported, what the dealer did, when the vehicle was unavailable and what the manufacturer received. A total such as “three visits” leaves out whether the same problem continued.

There is an important source limit: the Mississippi Motor Vehicle Commission’s linked Warranty Enforcement Act PDF is labeled 2019 Edition. Its law page warns that linked material may not reflect later amendments. This guide supplies a records method, not a current eligibility test, filing deadline or promised refund.

Give each repair visit its own entry

LSL recommends the following worksheet. Copy facts from repair orders and correspondence; mark missing information rather than reconstructing it as certain.

Visit fieldWhat to enter
IdentificationVIN, repair-order number and dealer or repair facility
IntakeDrop-off date/time, mileage and the concern in the owner’s words
Shop findingsRecorded diagnosis, tests, work, parts and any “could not duplicate” result
ReturnReady-for-pickup notice, actual pickup date/time and mileage
AfterwardWhether the concern recurred, with date and observation
Supporting fileExact repair order, message, invoice or dated attachment

Keep a changed symptom description visible. Do not make every visit sound identical to increase a repair count; distinguish the owner’s observation from the shop’s diagnosis. If an order omits the reported concern, ask the facility to correct its record and retain both versions.

Build downtime from individual dates

Use a separate calendar with date / why unavailable / supporting record / unresolved question. Distinguish repair time from routine maintenance, time after a ready-for-pickup notice, and any interval whose reason is unclear. Do not silently count the same date twice when work orders overlap.

The 2019 Act compilation, particularly sections 63-17-157 and 63-17-159, distinguishes repair reporting, continuing nonconformity, repair attempts, working-day downtime and notice to the manufacturer. Those distinctions explain why the raw dates matter. We have not verified a current statutory counting rule for your facts; keep the underlying dates rather than declaring that a calendar total qualifies the vehicle.

Manufacturer notice and a Commission complaint are different records

Preserve the warranty supplied with the vehicle, original delivery record, manufacturer contact instructions, the exact notice sent, delivery evidence and responses. Do not assume a conversation with a dealer proves the manufacturer received a required notice. The Act compilation treats notice and an opportunity to address the problem separately from counting visits.

The Commission says it handles disputes involving the businesses it regulates in new-vehicle sales, distribution and advertising. That is not a statement that it handles every independent repair-shop dispute. Check the route with 601-987-3995 before sending a file. Commission remit; contact and law notice.

Its complaint instructions offer paper and online routes. The two-page paper form asks for dealer and vehicle details, purchase information, a narrative with specific dates and copies of dealership correspondence. The visit worksheet can supply the narrative’s chronology; retain the supporting documents rather than submitting a count alone.

A general complaint form’s “new or used” field does not establish eligibility under the Warranty Enforcement Act. Nor does filing that form establish that a manufacturer-notice requirement or court deadline has been met. Get qualified Mississippi legal advice promptly about applicable law and timing; do not wait for this worksheet to be complete before seeking it.

What was checked

LSL read all 11 pages of the Commission’s 2019 compilation, its current law warning and stated remit, the complaint instructions and both pages of the paper form on September 19, 2026. The law page’s linked current-code service was access-restricted in an ordinary browser, so we do not label the older PDF current law. No complaint was filed, private warranty reviewed, dealer contacted or vehicle examined. The original contribution is the repair-order and calendar method, with agency complaints kept separate from legal qualification.
