A house move through Vicksburg can need more than permission to build at the destination. The City’s house-moving instructions require a permit before construction or demolition work that occupies a right-of-way to transport a house or other structure.
The published permit starts at $100, with additional fees depending on the work. City employees or equipment needed for traffic direction or detours can introduce other costs and permits. That is not a $100 moving quote.
Prepare the route before choosing the moving date

Do not attempt utility disconnections or clearance work yourself. The moving permit does not establish that a structure fits beneath a line or that its destination is ready for placement.
Allow processing time, not an assumed approval date
The City asks for at least two days to process a completed application and explicitly says submission does not guarantee issuance. Its page does not specify business days or promise a two-day turnaround. Ask how the proposed date fits its actual review and traffic arrangements before making an irreversible scheduling commitment.
The City permit directory provides the separate permit routes. Keep any County or other jurisdiction’s approval attached to that portion of the move; a Vicksburg permit cannot answer for the entire journey.
