Tampa’s roof-final checklist asks for evidence of the roof’s sections, components and installation details—not just a few overall photographs. Use the reference below to review the documentation your roofer supplies. It is not an invitation to climb onto the roof or perform your own inspection.

First choose the right inspection channel

A roof-covering replacement cannot use Tampa’s real-time video inspection option. The City’s virtual-inspection page instead describes offline field reports: submit photos, notes and documents through the VuSpex app for an inspector’s review. The app is required for that submission; the inspection and result are generated in Accela without separate Accela scheduling.

Check the current program instructions for your permit before arranging the submission. A photo packet is not a passed final.

What belongs in the roof-final packet

The October 2025 City checklist has eight items. LSL groups them here by the kind of evidence to look for:

  • Documents: mitigation form and Florida product approvals, photographed or uploaded as documents to the record.
  • Coverage: a view of every roof-system section, plus slope shown with a gauge or a level and ruler.
  • Ventilation and openings: ridge vent/cap or off-ridge vents, and every roof penetration’s boot.
  • Attachments and weather details: roof-covering and drip-edge fasteners, with a tape measure showing spacing; rake and valley sealant; flashings and crickets.

Keep the original checklist beside the packet. If a listed feature is absent or not applicable, ask the contractor or inspector how to document that condition; do not silently mark the item complete.

LSL’s coverage index: find omissions before the upload

Make one line for each roof section shown in the contractor’s overview images. Assign a plain label such as “rear addition” and record the corresponding overview filename. These labels are an organizational aid, not a City naming requirement.

Beneath that line, associate the available slope, vent, penetration, attachment and weather-detail images with that section. A useful note reads:

Rear addition — overview: ___; slope: ___; relevant detail images: ___; question for contractor: ___.

Keep the mitigation form and product-approval files in a separate document list. This prevents a single whole-roof image from being mistaken for evidence of every detail, or a document photograph from being counted as a missing section view. The index does not establish that the depicted work complies with code.

Do not request unsafe access or disturb completed roofing to fill a blank. Ask the contractor what documentation already exists and the City what further evidence or inspection arrangement it needs.

Submission questions and the final result

For help with the inspection route, contact CSDInspections@Tampagov.net or 813-274-3100, option 1. Follow the current instructions linked from the City program page; LSL did not test an account or a private permit.

Use the roof-permit page for the permit route, not as proof that an inspection passed. Check the inspector’s actual result in Accela and respond to any requested corrections.

Review note: LSL compared the City’s permit page, current program instructions and complete one-page roof-final checklist on September 13, 2026. The section-to-file index is LSL’s addition. The checklist does not state the address-visible photo requirement asserted in this article’s former headline; that claim has been removed. No roof visit, image inspection or field testing was performed.
