For a Winter Park water-heater inspection, start with the inspection assigned to the permit, not a generic list of visible parts. The City’s index separates residential plumbing final (702) from gas final (710) and electrical final (502). Those labels help identify a record; they do not mean every replacement needs all three. Confirm the applicable inspections with the contractor and Building staff. Inspection index
Turn the common-problem list into questions
Winter Park’s Inspection Information page identifies heat traps, protection of piping, and water-heater relief, pan and drain arrangements among its plumbing concerns. It is a general violations list, not a current model-specific installation manual or a complete water-heater checklist.
LSL’s preparation questions connect the installation to the person responsible for explaining it:
| Ask the installer | Useful supporting reference |
|---|---|
| Which model and fuel type are actually installed? | Unit identification and the corresponding manufacturer’s instructions |
| How is the heat-trap requirement addressed for this unit? | Installer’s explanation tied to the actual equipment, not a generic photograph |
| Which relief, pan and drain arrangements apply here? | The specific installation location, instructions and any inspector comment |
| What remains unresolved from the previous inspection? | The actual comment and a description of the correction, rather than “done” alone |
These are document and communication checks. They do not establish compliance or invite an owner to test valves, open equipment, enter an unsafe attic or modify gas, electrical or plumbing connections. Have the responsible professional address the technical issue.
Do not use the scheduling command to ask for results
The City’s inspection-code webpage repeats the scheduling command under its results heading. Its linked two-page scheduling instructions distinguish them:
S [permit number] [inspection code]schedules an inspection.R [permit number]requests results.
The PDF also lists the interactive words SCHEDULE and RESULTS and the number 866-858-4317. Replace the bracketed placeholders with the actual identifiers, and verify the returned address before continuing. Use the linked instructions or ask staff if the system responds differently; LSL did not send a text or test a private permit.
Match a correction to the returned inspection
Keep the result’s permit number, inspection type and date beside the actual comment. Then record what the installer changed and which follow-up result addresses it. A receipt for a new part does not identify which inspector concern it resolves; an appointment message does not establish a pass.
LSL checked the complete code index, the relevant plumbing section of the common-problem page and both pages of the scheduling PDF on September 20, 2026. The command distinction was checked in the PDF’s native layout. General code measurements on the older violations page are not reproduced as current design instructions, and no equipment suitability or inspection result was determined.
