For an OUC ceiling-insulation rebate, save the starting R-value before new material obscures it. The current program requires existing insulation of R-19 or less and a final level of at least R-30. Build the file in the order the evidence exists

Ask the installer to document the existing condition before adding material. This is not an instruction to enter an unsafe attic or disturb unknown insulation yourself.

Use the purchase date for the rebate deadline
OUC’s process requires application within six months of purchase, not six months after a later project closeout. Its public table lists $0.10 per installed square foot; approval results in a credit on the utility bill. Do not treat a contractor’s estimate or an application receipt as an approved credit. Keep a copy of the receipt where its date remains readable. If purchases occur on different dates, ask OUC how to document the project instead of selecting the latest date as an assumed extension.
Check who is applying
The account-holder route starts in myOUC. The instructions say the portal displays rebates for which the customer is potentially eligible; appearance in that list is not final approval.
A landlord, contractor or builder applying for a property not in their name needs an applicant number and the separate application route described by OUC. Confirm the correct applicant before handing over documents or assuming someone else has filed. Application instructions
Being the applicant is not the same as being the payer. OUC’s general terms exclude work performed and paid by a third party, even though its application instructions provide a route for representatives. Final pre-submission check
- Verify OUC electric-service eligibility; OUC water service alone is not the same thing.
- Check the starting and final insulation values.
- Separate conditioned eligible area from excluded space.
- Confirm the invoice or DIY documentation is complete. OUC requires proof of payment when an invoice is entirely handwritten.
- Submit within the applicable purchase-based period and save confirmation.
