Clermont’s tree-removal package asks for an inventory that connects each tree’s location, common name and circumference. The measurement is taken 4.5 feet above existing grade. That is circumference around the trunk, not diameter across it. Application instructions, page 2

Make the map and the tree list agree

The instructions describe an aerial at one inch to 100 feet or greater, or a drawing at one inch to 40 feet or greater. Preserve the scale when printing; ask staff to confirm an alternative rather than assuming an enlarged or reduced screenshot is acceptable. LSL suggests assigning the same identifier to each map symbol, measurement entry and supporting photograph. For example, T1 on the map → T1 in the measurement list → T1 in the photograph filename. That is an organizational aid, not a City-prescribed numbering system.

Use it to check an application before submission:

  • Can a reviewer distinguish a retained tree from one proposed for removal?
  • Does the measurement entry say circumference and identify the measurement height?
  • Does the stated removal reason refer to the same tree shown on the map?
  • If the drawing was resized, does its printed scale still match?

Do not relabel a diameter measurement as circumference. If a trunk shape or location prevents a straightforward measurement, describe the problem and ask how staff wants it documented.

Fee, paperwork and debris are separate obligations

The form lists $25 regular and $155 after-the-fact fees. The FAQ adds that the ordinary $25 permit amount does not increase with tree count. Neither statement prices the tree contractor’s work or a replacement planting. Form fees · Tree-permit FAQ

The form also assigns removal debris to the owner or contractor and says the City will not collect debris associated with the permit. Establish which process applies before treating the form as universal

The City’s ordinary permit instructions are not the entire legal picture. Florida section 163.045 limits local permitting and replanting requirements for qualifying residential trees with the specified professional risk documentation. For a permit subject to City review, retain the actual removal and replacement decision rather than deriving a replacement count from tree count alone. LSL checked the FAQ, all four native pages of the posted March 2023 package and the current statute on September 20, 2026. We did not identify a tree, determine an exemption or calculate a property’s replacement requirement.
