For an Altamonte Springs utility shutoff, start with the Water Distribution Division at 407-571-8340, not a general billing application. Its operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.–3:30 p.m. After-hours utility emergencies go to 407-571-8686. Water and Sewer contacts

A repair shutoff and a scheduled utility job need different conversations

The City says its personnel shut off potable or reclaimed water at no charge during normal working hours; after-hours and weekend shutoffs carry a stated $25 charge. Tell the division whether the situation is an urgent service problem or planned work. Do not defer an emergency merely to satisfy a construction scheduling form. Shutoff service

Only City personnel may operate the meter, according to Utility Services. That page’s billing-office hours, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., are different from the distribution crew’s hours. Meter operation and billing office

Read the work-request form’s two scheduling cautions

The linked utility-work PDF includes water shutoff, meter installation, wet tap, flow test, sewer connection and backflow test requests. It requires receipt at least 48 hours, described as work-day hours, before the requested service date. It also says the requested time is an estimate dependent on the daily schedule. Utility-work request

Ask the division how it counts that lead time for the proposed date, especially across a weekend or holiday. LSL has not converted the wording into a guaranteed two-day turnaround or appointment calculator.

Before sending the form, match these dependencies:

What must line upWhat to confirm
Private contractor’s workThe time and duration when City action is needed
City’s utility requestRequested service, project location, permit number and available contact
Division’s responseWhether approved, any conditions and the expected service window
Inspection, if requiredIts separate booking and completion requirements

This coordination table is LSL’s planning aid, not a representation that every repair needs all four items.

Sending this form does not book an inspection

The PDF explicitly separates utility work from inspections. It directs completed requests to DPhillippi@altamonte.org or fax 407-571-8350, and reserves approval to the Water Distribution/Lift Station and Collections Division. Submission and approval fields

Keep the division’s response with the contractor’s work plan. A sent email is not the form’s approval, an exact arrival time or an inspection result. Before relying on an older saved PDF, reopen the City’s Water and Sewer page for the current form and contact.

LSL checked both department pages and the complete native one-page form on September 20, 2026. No request was filed and no private job’s permit or inspection requirements were determined.
