Brook Park takes inspection requests by telephone through live staff, not voicemail. Call 216-433-7412 during the Building Department’s published Monday–Friday 9 a.m.–4 p.m. scheduling hours.
The department page asks for at least 24 hours’ advance notice and says its attempt to inspect within 24 hours is not guaranteed. Permit inspections use AM or PM windows. A caller’s preferred time is not a confirmed appointment.
Anchor the call to the right project
Have the project address, permit number if applicable, requested inspection type, caller’s name/phone and proposed time ready. Ask staff which permit identifier and inspection stage apply if uncertain.
The 2026 application provides the project/owner/work identity fields and requires both pages. LSL’s former link still opens a 2023 application; it is not the current-year form the City tells applicants to use. For that version problem and fee preparation, see the Brook Park form and fee comparison.

This remains a caller-created record. Separate what you requested from what staff confirmed, and write down any readiness or access instruction in their response. Do not write “scheduled” solely because you dialed the office or left a message.
If the call reaches voicemail, contact live staff during the published hours; the City’s page says voicemail requests will not be honored. If timing is critical to covering work or ordering materials, resolve the appointment before relying on it.
Continue the record through the result
After the visit, add the actual inspection date, type, result, correction items and any reinspection. Keep the City-supplied result where available, not just the contractor’s account of it.
A successful inspection may close one stage rather than the whole permit. Ask what remains and retain the City’s completion record separately. If nobody has confirmed the inspection, do not cover the work based on an assumed schedule.
LSL preserved the useful ten-field call log and rechecked the City’s inspection instructions and both pages of its current application on September 20, 2026. The live-staff requirement and current form replace vague timing guidance and an outdated citation. We did not call the City, schedule an appointment, observe work or obtain an inspection result.
