Contact Jackson’s Office of Housing and Community Development before preparing a repair-assistance application. The City’s Housing Rehabilitation page directs residents to the office to confirm income eligibility and application windows. It does not give a current opening date. LSL’s September 12 review did not establish whether a particular intake is open or closed.
First identify the program—not just the repair
The City describes assistance for owner-occupied, low- or moderate-income households and lists roof replacement, plumbing or electrical repairs, structural safety and accessibility modifications. These categories can help explain your need to OHCD; they do not approve your household or every component of a proposed renovation.
The current OHCD office page lists the Warren Hood Building, 200 S. President St., Jackson, and its contact email. Use that official page to find the current contact. Ask about a City of Jackson property; a Hinds County address alone does not establish the relevant program geography.
Prepare a short inquiry before sending private files
LSL’s inquiry worksheet focuses on the missing information. You can fill in the answer column during a conversation or retain the office’s written response. It is not an official application or a list of documents the City has demanded.

For an initial inquiry, describe the repair and location without attaching income statements, medical records, identity documents or bank information. Wait for the verified program’s instructions before sending private eligibility evidence. Save the exact program name and response date so a later notice can be matched to the same program.
Why the old suspension notice is not a current answer
Our earlier article stated that Healthy Homes Production Grant and CDBG Limited Repair intake was suspended. The cited older City URL now returns 404 on a fresh research fetch, although cached search results still display the old notice. We cannot carry that text forward as today’s status.
A missing notice does not prove reopening or cancellation. If one of those names appears on paperwork you already hold, ask OHCD about that exact program and submission, rather than starting over under a different name. This review does not verify a currently available waiting list.
If the office invites an application
The rehabilitation page describes a City property inspection and City-established scope before contractors are assigned through City procurement. Use your repair list to explain the problem, then compare it with the scope the program actually authorizes. Do not treat a private estimate as a funding commitment or assume that every requested finish or trade is included.
The Housing Assistance page explains that program administrators, application processes and funding differ, with no guarantee of eligibility or assistance. Keep any award conditions separate from the construction-permit question; our Jackson permit-process guide addresses that later task.
This replaces the overlapping six-trade housing-rehab article, whose old address redirects here. LSL compared three current City pages and the unavailable older citation; we did not contact OHCD, apply, join a list, inspect a home or obtain a household decision.
