After a City of Tampa shutoff for nonpayment, paying the overdue balance does not automatically arrange reconnection. The City requires full payment of the overdue amount followed by a call to schedule restoration. Its 24-hour payment system and staffed reconnection service have different hours. Match payment time to the reconnection call
| Payment situation | What to do next |
|---|---|
| Payment received and posted during weekday business hours | Call 813-274-8811, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., to arrange restoration. |
| Payment arrives after those hours | The City says to wait until the next business day to arrange reinstatement; a night or weekend payment is not a confirmed service visit. |
| Payment sent by mail | Wait for receipt and posting before restoration can be arranged. A mailing date is not the posting date. |
The restoration page offers the online customer portal, automated telephone card payment and a listed cash-payment location as faster alternatives to mail. Keep the payment confirmation and ask whether it has posted when calling. Do not use the general online-inquiry route as proof that a technician has been assigned.
The City says reinstatement can take up to 24 hours and may not be available the same day. Confirm the service request and follow-up instructions with staff; do not calculate a guaranteed arrival time from the payment timestamp.
Before the technician arrives
Turn all faucets to OFF, as the City directs. Give staff accurate access information and a working contact number. If water remains off after the arranged service, report that condition and the service-request reference rather than simply making a second payment. The published account-service contact is 813-274-8811, weekdays 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Utility contacts
Check the next bill for the separate charges
The restoration FAQ lists a $45 reconnection fee and $40 unlock fee, both placed on the next bill. Together those displayed fees total $85—LSL’s addition of the two amounts, not a complete payoff quote. The page separately describes a late fee of 6% of the current past-due amount. Ask for the account’s actual balance and charges; do not apply that percentage to an assumed amount or replace it with the $85 subtotal. Restoration FAQ
If you are trying to prevent a future shutoff, the contact page routes payment-extension and payment-plan requests to the portal or call center. That is a different task from restoring already disconnected service.
LSL read the complete operative restoration page, including its FAQs, and utility contact page on September 21, 2026. The timing table separates posting, staffed scheduling and field work; it is not a private restoration booking. No payment, account or technician visit was tested.
