These are dated observations of the County page, not a prediction of launch timing. A fee-publication target is not a permit price, and a County address is not evidence that a counter accepts applications.
Correction: the previously linked State tool searches appeals
The earlier version of this article called the BBA Lookup Application a building-department lookup. That was incorrect. Its destination identifies itself as the Board of Building Appeals database and describes case-file records from 2003 onward. It does not identify the permit office for a project address. The County page recommends a State building-department lookup, but LSL has not verified a working replacement for the incorrectly cited route. For now, confirm the responsible department directly with the municipality and County division. Do not use an appeals-case search result as a jurisdiction decision.
Ask for an address-and-project answer
Use this short inquiry when a County launch announcement leaves responsibility unclear:
For work at [address and municipality], involving [residential or nonresidential project and scope], which department currently receives the plans and permit application? If County service is planned, what effective date and transition instructions apply? Who separately handles zoning?
This is LSL’s inquiry aid, not an official form. Request the accepting office’s current instructions and secure filing route. Save the reply with the project description so a later change in scope does not silently become a different authority question.
An appointment does not activate every service
The May 8, 2026 announcement describes an interim chief building official and the division’s development. It does not name a participating municipality or establish an active permit portal. That organizational milestone cannot resolve the address inquiry above. Dated appointment announcement
The County also warns that Building Standards will not request personal or payment information by phone or email. Verify an unexpected payment request through the official County page rather than replying with sensitive records. LSL reread the County launch and appointment pages and checked the actual BBA destination on September 20, 2026. This correction preserves the useful launch-status comparison, fixes the wrong tool description and supplies a direct authority inquiry. No private address, permit application or payment was submitted.
