Cuyahoga County’s published deadline for the 2026 Taxpayer Assistance Program was August 31, 2026. As checked September 20, the Treasurer’s page says applications submitted before midnight on that date will be reviewed for eligibility. An older announcement saying inquiries are open is not evidence that a new application can still be filed. Current program notice

Already applied? Check the application, then the tax account

For an existing application’s status, the County gives 216-443-7575 and FEC@cuyahogacounty.gov. Have the submission date and receipt available. Ask which application is on file, whether documents are missing and what the next decision will be. Do not email sensitive records until staff confirm the required documents and secure delivery route. Status contact

Use this LSL comparison when an update arrives:

Update receivedWhat to clarify next
Receipt or eligibility-review messageHas a decision been made, or is review still pending?
Request for counseling or documentsWhat must be supplied, to whom and by when?
Written awardWhat amount and use are authorized, and what conditions remain?
Payment noticeHas the payment appeared on the tax account, and what balance remains?

Keep the actual reply or decision with the receipt. A completed inquiry, written award and posted payment answer different questions; none should be recorded as another.

Financial counseling is not a reopened grant application

The live page still links a Financial Empowerment Center form for counseling and resources. That does not negate the dated Taxpayer Assistance closing notice above it. Ask FEC about available help if you missed the deadline; this article does not establish a reopening, late-application exception or new funding round. Current notice and separate FEC route

The November 19, 2025 expansion release is useful program history, not a current intake instruction. It described the 2026 inquiry period, remaining-delinquency payment contracts, EasyPay for future taxes and counseling conditions. Its older contact and form should not replace the current status route. Dated expansion announcement

Keep remaining taxes and any foreclosure notice active

The program page describes assistance of up to $10,000. That is a cap, not a promise to pay a particular balance. An applicant must still obtain the County’s eligibility and award decisions. Assistance limit

The older release’s income qualification list says “less than $70,000,” while its introduction and the live page use an inclusive limit; the live page also addresses Social Security. These are questions for program staff, not a basis for LSL to calculate eligibility. Release wording · Current eligibility description

For delinquent-tax payment arrangements, the Treasurer’s foreclosure page lists 216-443-7400. It discusses payment contracts and continued current-tax payments separately from assistance. A pending assistance review does not establish that a court deadline, lien or foreclosure action has stopped. Respond to notices and obtain qualified advice for an active case. Treasurer foreclosure guidance

LSL reread all three County pages on September 20, 2026. This update replaces the old intake-oriented nine-stage file with the now-passed deadline, a status-check route and a receipt-to-payment comparison. No private application, tax account, award or court case was accessed.
