For a Monroe residential project, the first plan-set question is what work the drawings must show, not which upload button to use. The City’s requirements distinguish new construction, additions and remodels. Its current online route is MGO, but the separate drawing document still describes email and hard-copy delivery. Confirm that delivery question before preparing a package.
Start with the drawing scope
The two-page Submittal Requirements says plans must cover the work and identify scope that is not included. LSL compared its residential exceptions below; this is a reading aid, not permission to omit drawings for an actual alteration.
| Residential project | Exceptions listed in the document | Preparation question |
|---|---|---|
| New construction | Life-safety and demolition plans | Does the remaining set show the proposed site, structure and affected systems? |
| Addition | Life-safety plan | Have existing conditions and any removal been distinguished from the addition? |
| Remodel | Site, life-safety, roof, foundation unless altered, and building details | Does an alteration require information that the category-level list would otherwise omit? Ask the City. |
The general list also includes floor plans, elevations, window/door schedules, electrical, framing and plumbing information. Do not label a set “remodel” to avoid showing work that changes the roof or foundation.
Resolve the delivery instructions before submission
The drawing PDF states an 11×17 minimum residential page size and describes digital email delivery plus a hard copy. The current permitting page and MGO instructions direct applicants to Monroe’s online system. None of those statements alone establishes that every older delivery requirement has been rescinded.
Ask monroe.inspections@ci.monroe.la.us which drawing size, delivery method, hard-copy requirement and signatures or seals apply to your scope. Do not email private plans merely because an older PDF lists an address; confirm the present submission route.
Use the Monroe portal linked by the City. Its instructions call for a working telephone during account verification. Software questions go to support@mygovernmentonline.org or 985-851-0760; the City, not software support, decides drawing sufficiency. MGO account instructions
Pair every correction with the sheet that answers it
LSL recommends a revision manifest alongside the project file. It is not a City-required naming convention or a list of official portal states.
| Entry | What it connects |
|---|---|
| Reviewer comment | The actual comment text, its date and the project/application identifier |
| Drawing response | The affected sheet identifier and a concise explanation of the change |
| Revised file | File name, revision date and the preparer responsible for the response |
| Submission evidence | The actual receipt or message showing which version was delivered |
| City’s response | The decision or further comment about that version, including unresolved items |
Keep an unchanged copy of the prior set. When several sheets change, check that the package and manifest describe the same revision. A file marked “final” by its preparer is not evidence of City acceptance.
At permit issuance, identify which drawing version the City accepted. If later work would differ, ask about revision requirements and retain the answer with that version. Do not infer inspection passage from an uploaded file or an application status.
Different question: what belongs in an enclosure proposal?
The Monroe porch and enclosure worksheet helps describe existing versus proposed physical work. This guide handles the resulting plan package and revision history; it does not design the project.
Reviewed September 12, 2026: both drawing-document pages, the one-page MGO instructions and the City’s permitting page. The drawing PDF has no established printed publication date; its URL folder was not used as one. LSL did not create an account, test an upload, inspect private plans or observe nine official portal states.
Consolidation note: The overlapping residential-plan closeout article now redirects here. Its generic records table did not establish a separate construction-closeout procedure.
