Water color does not tell you whether an address is under a boil-water notice. Check JXN Water’s live notice page first. Its address-specific precautions and resolved listings are separate from the utility’s general manganese explanation.
This guide helps you select the right record and describe a problem. It does not diagnose discoloration or certify water at a particular tap.
Which record answers your question?
| Situation | Next check |
|---|---|
| Your full street address falls within an active notice | Follow that notice’s precautions until the utility lifts it; clear-looking water does not resolve it |
| You find the street in recently resolved notices | Match the address range and notice date, then check for any newer active entry |
| The boundary or status is unclear | Ask JXN Water at 601-500-5200 to confirm the address and applicable instruction |
| You see discoloration without a matching notice | Report the observation; the absence of a listed notice does not diagnose its cause or certify safety |
The address, date and active/resolved section belong together. An older resolved entry for the same street is not a substitute for checking a newer notice. This is LSL’s reading method, not a claim that we checked your address.
The notice page instructs affected customers to use a rolling boil for one minute for its listed consumption uses until the advisory is lifted. Read the full current instructions, including any address-specific direction. A saved screenshot records one moment, not future status.
What the manganese statement actually says
JXN Water’s seasonal update attributes reported discoloration to manganese and describes flushing, treatment adjustments and monitoring. The page has no displayed publication date in the text reviewed on September 19, 2026. Its phrase “over the past week” therefore should not be read as LSL reporting a new incident this week.
The utility’s FAQ discusses seasonal discoloration and customer reporting. Its general reassurance is a utility statement, not a test of an individual property’s water. General guidance cannot cancel an active address notice or identify an unreported problem from appearance alone.
Use the linked utility guidance for the situation it describes; obtain address-specific instructions when the facts do not fit. LSL is not recommending a filter, chemical treatment or plumbing repair on the basis of a photograph.
Give customer care an observation, not a diagnosis
Record one affected fixture at a time:
| Field | Your entry |
|---|---|
| Date/time and fixture or room | |
| Cold, hot or both affected | |
| Color, odor or visible sediment; how long noticed | |
| Whether water had been unused; relevant nearby work you actually observed | |
| Current notice result, address range and time checked | |
| Utility reference number and exact instruction received |
Keep a safely obtained photograph if useful, but do not dismantle plumbing or assume a color identifies a substance. Distinguish what you saw from what someone else told you. The utility’s FAQ describes multiple possible influences on appearance; LSL has not selected one for your property.
Report continuing discoloration through 601-500-5200, the utility’s 24/7 line. Keep its response with the observations and check the live notice page again when relying on an earlier status. Obtain qualified health guidance for individual medical concerns; this routing worksheet cannot resolve them.
Review record
On September 19, 2026, LSL read the manganese statement, full FAQ and active/resolved notice page. We deliberately do not republish today’s address list: the utility’s live list is the appropriate place to check changing status. The review corrects the earlier article’s implication that an undated seasonal update establishes a current-week event and reduces overlapping checklists. No water sample, property inspection, private service case or independent safety test was performed.
