A Jackson customer considering Entergy Mississippi’s prepay program should ask how a payment will be divided before assuming the whole amount becomes available for new electricity use. The utility’s FAQ describes a 25% arrears and 75% current-service split when qualifying outstanding debt of $200 or less is transferred into prepay. Prepay FAQ

Work one hypothetical payment

Suppose a qualifying account still has transferred arrears and makes a $40 payment credited to the account:

DestinationCalculationAmount
Outstanding balance$40 × 0.25$10
Current electric service$40 × 0.75$30

This is an illustrative calculation using the published allocation—not a customer bill, an enrollment determination or a prediction of how many days electricity will last. It excludes payment-processing charges and assumes the allocation still applies.

For enrollment questions, call Entergy Mississippi at 800-368-3749. Ask about the actual account balance, required enrollment payment, qualifying meter/account and what changes after the transferred arrears are paid. Enrollment and payment FAQ

Compare the account features too

The FAQ says Budget Billing, Auto Pay and Pick a Date are not available on prepay. It also describes electronic notifications replacing monthly bills and paper disconnect notices. Check that the household can reliably receive and act on those messages.

Leaving the program normally makes a customer ineligible to re-enroll for 12 months, according to the FAQ; the same page describes special payment-arrangement circumstances separately. Obtain account-specific instructions rather than treating this guide as a complete statement of every exception.

The calculation helps identify a question to ask. It does not recommend prepay for a particular household or promise a cheaper bill, debt forgiveness or protection from disconnection.

LSL rechecked the utility’s FAQ and independently reproduced the two payment allocations on September 13, 2026. No customer account or enrollment was reviewed.
